Deborah Murchie
We want to introduce ourselves and give you some
background information so you can get to know us and not
just the websites. Both of us grew up in Florida and have
been around a nature based business for most of our lives, I
have been into fishing and the wildlife since I was old
enough to walk, so it was a natural progression to a full
time fishing guide for me. Deb grew up at a fish camp and
all though she was not crazy about growing up there she did
end up loving the atmosphere and the people of the fish camp
life.
We opened Overstreet Landing 18 years ago with camping
and fishing on world famous Lake Kissimmee in central
Florida, her running the camp and bait shop, me doing the
guide trips. We started out as a small camp and over the
years we realized that our size was perfect for what we
wanted, a nice intimate place where folks could come to fish
and get away from the big city with no crowds.
People have tried to make us grow into one of those big
campgrounds but it just wasn’t for us by keeping our place
smaller we have developed a nice peaceful camp ground where
many old friends and hopefully new friends to be will come
and enjoy a quiet get away weather it be for a weekend a
week or several months we know you will appreciate our
little piece of Florida.
Because of our remote location and the abundance of
wildlife the National Audubon Society has put our location
on there best places to go for wildlife list in Florida.
because of this distinction we decided to start a wildlife
airboat tour business 2 years ago, and fortunately for us it
has done very well, I wish it was all because of us but I
have to admit it is because of our diverse and abundant wild
life population, we have 35,000 acres of lake and swamp to
draw from that holds almost every type of animal or bird
Florida has to offer, from alligators to snail kites and
whooping cranes.
So whether you are thinking of camping and fishing for a
while or just want to take an airboat tour of old Florida we
hope you will consider us for your next outing.
